Luxford Research Group – Overview

Researchers in the Luxford Lab use both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore learning in undergraduate chemistry courses through quasi-experimental designs and phenomenological methods to explore student understanding and effective use of formative and summative assessments. Some of the common data collection methods our research group utilizes are: surveys, interviews, focus groups, and eye tracking.

We are particularly focused on:

  • Assessing conceptual knowledge and utilization of representations
  • Impact of curricular choices and student study habitsĀ on student understanding
  • Impact of testing feedback on student success

If you are interested in learning more about our groups work, please browse our Group Members, Research, and Publications pages.
